9 January 2016

Mthatha Bucks Football Club has appointed Mr Ian Palmer as the new head coach of the team.

The highly-respected mentor is hugely experienced and has a very good track record in South African football, having promoted Maritzburg United to the premier division. The 50-year-old former Orlando Pirates striker is no stranger to the NFD league having been in charge of African Warriors, Blackburn Rovers, Santos, Chippa United and recently at Milano United.

"It is his tons of experience, high level of discipline and professionalism that attracted us to him. His knowledge of the NFD league made him the right choice for us in trying to go forward with our season,” said Mthatha Bucks COO Lunga Tukute.

β€œHe will resume his duties with immediate effect. We welcome the coach to Amathol'amnyama family and we will support him through thick and thin as we try to take the team to greater heights,” he added.

The second round of the season will kickoff against Jomo Cosmos at home on the 11th February 2016.
