Bucks claim maximum points in Cape Town

Mthatha Bucks moved off the foot of the table with a 2-1 win over Santos on Tuesday, a second consecutive victory in the league for Eddie Dyaloyi’s side.

With good support in the stands, Bucks begun the game with intent, but almost conceded after five minutes when Santos midfielder Tyren Arendse smashed a shot into the woodwork.

Amathol’amnyama midfielder Sihle Maso missed a great chance to score on 20 minutes when he shot straight at goalkeeper Tashrique Goldman. But Maso was to put Bucks in front just before the break when he converted from the penalty spot.

There were chances after half time for both sides as keeper Mlungisi Maranti made a brilliant save to deny Suhayl Allie before Siphelele Jonassi shot inches wide of goal.

The impressive Jonassi notched Bucks’ second goal when he scored after an outstanding solo arun in the 73rd minute.

The Peoples’ Team pulled back a goal through Brent Adonis from a corner kick on 89 minutes, but Bucks held on for the three points which sees them moving above FC Cape Town and into 15th spot after 14 games played.
