Bucks leave Mbombela empty-handed
22 November 2015

It was a baptism of fire for Coach Eddie Dyaloyi as Mthatha Bucks were left to lick their wounds after a 3-1 away defeat at the hands of fellow NFD rookies Mbombela United on Sunday afternoon.

The two teams, who last met in the ABC Motsepe Play-off finals, have had contrasting starts to life in second tier football, with Tingwenyama managing six wins while Amathol'amnyama’s search for that elusive win continues.

The Mthatha-based side started the match with great attacking intent as Tebogo Makungo hit the woodwork and later saw his shot being saved from point blank range by Khalishwayo in the Mbombela goals.

Bucks’ missed opportunities to take the lead however, were soon to haunt them as Tingwenyama captain Bednog Manyike gave his side the lead, with 33 minutes played.

Ten minutes later the home side were awarded a penalty as Inky Masuku was brought down in the box, Masuku then stepped and made no mistake to extend the lead for the Mpumalanga side, resulting in a 2-0 half time score-line.

Coach Eddie rang in the second half changes as Amathol'amnyama remained positive, searching for a way back, which resulted in Moses Spandeel pulling a goal back.

But Bucks’ hopes of securing that elusive first win were dealt a further blow as Manyike completed his brace to give his side a 3-1 victory.
