Highlands Park 2-0 Mthatha Bucks
31 October 2015

Mthatha Bucks’ testing start to the season continued when they lost 2-0 to Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium in an NFD match on Saturday afternoon.

Bucks were on the back-foot early on when veteran defender Jermaine Christian put the home side in front after only nine minutes.

Amathol’amnyama did try to play themselves back into the game and were unlucky not to level before half time as first Samkelo Ndletyana had a header cleared off the line before Themba Maloyi sent his header over the bar.

Bucks remained in contention after the restart as the game remained tightly poised. But they were to suffer a killer blow midway through the second stanza when Highlands Park skipper Siphiwe Tshabalala scored from what looked like an off-side positon.

The goal took the wind out of the visiting side’s sails as there proved to be no way back as Highlands Park held on for the 2-0 win.
