Mthatha Bucks 1-1 Thanda Royal Zulu
28 October 2015

Mthatha Bucks came from a goal behind, but were unable to turn one point into three as they drew 1-1 with Thanda Royal Zulu in Mthatha on Wednesday.

Thanda scored first through a Menzi Hlope header on 27 minutes, but Bucks levelled the game through a second half penalty by Sibongiseni Madikane.

Bucks started the game positively and on seven minutes Madikane had a shot at goal, but his effort was off target. Sihle Maso then headed over the bar on 16 minutes as the hosts continued to look lively.

But it was Thanda who drew first blood as Menzi Hlope scored with a header on 27 minutes.

New signing Themba ‘Kiro’ Maloyi made his debut off the bench for Amathol'amnyama, and he was close to opening the scoring on 52 minutes, but saw his sweetly timed volley brilliantly stopped by TRZ keeper Samkelo Mbambo.

But Bucks were to get their goal three minutes later when Sibongiseni Madikane held his nerve to score from the penalty spot.

Julius Dube's men pushed hard for the winner, but were frustrated by Mbambo, who made another breath-taking save to keep out Maloyi's header late on in the game.
