Match Preview: CT All Stars v Mthatha Bucks
23 October 2015
With both sides needing maximum points for different reasons, Friday’s NFD clash between Cape Town All Stars and Mthatha Bucks at Athlone has all the makings of a crunch encounter.
Stars, who are currently a point behind log leaders Baroka, head into Friday’s clash looking for nothing less than three points, as a win could see them move back to the top of the log for at least 24 hours.
NFD rookies Amathol'amnyama however find themselves with different objectives, as they look to get off the foot of the table, still chasing that elusive first victory which could see them jump three places to 13th position.
Pressure will surely be on both sides as All Stars, even with their positive log position, have not been very clinical upfront, while Bucks will look to tighten up their defence and search for that elusive winning goal.
And with midweek preparations seeing Amathol'amnyama getting the necessary mental boost and Igugu Lekapa intensifying their training schedule, supporters in attendance can surely brace themselves for a crunch encounter.
Bucks will take confidence from their last visit to the Mother City which ended in a 1-1 draw against FC Cape Town, with two missed penalties denying them their first victory.
The Gugulethu-based Stars will be looking to continue their splendid form against teams outside of Cape Town, having won five out of five matches played.
Players to be on the lookout for will be All Stars attackers Thembinkosi Lorch and Paseka Mako on the wing, while for the visitors the experience duo of Welcome Qalanto and Moses Spandeel will be hoping to help Bucks turn the corner.
